FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tom Green Agrees to Get 'FINGERED' In Person at This
Saturday’s 22nd Annual RAZZIE Awards
While
the Hoity-Toity of Hollywood are holding their breath awaiting
this Sunday’s 74th Annual Academy Awards, the Hoi Polloi of
the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation have been holding their
noses, picking Tinsel Town’s Top Turkeys for The 22nd
Annual RAZZIE Awards. “Winners” of this Annual
Derby of Dis-Honor will be announced this Saturday, March 23
at 11:30am/PST in ceremonies at The Abracadabra Theatre at
MAGICOPOLIS, 1418 Fourth Street in Santa Monica. Complete
with a Tacky Opening Number (“Hooray for What’s No
Good!”) Tuxedoed Presenters, Envelopes, Clips of nominated
films-- and the likelihood that at least one potential “Winner”
WILL attend -- The RAZZIES are a light-hearted parody of Show Biz
Awards in General (and The Oscars in particular).
The
likely attendee is the star, co-author and director of this year’s
Most-Nominated RAZZIE title, FREDDY GOT FINGERED, Tom Green.
His film was slammed by CNN as “the worst movie ever
released by a major studio in Hollywood history.” Just prior
to press time, Green announced that if he or his film won any
statuettes, he would be the first on-screen talent in RAZZIE
history ever to show up at the ceremonies and accept in person.
As Worst Picture, FREDDY’s co-nominees include: The
latest Sylvester Stallone vehicle to crash-and-burn at the
Box Office, DRIVEN; Mariah Carey’s stillborn STAR IS
BORN knock-off GLITTER; Disney’s dizzyingly expensive,
numbingly overlong WWII epic PEARL HARBOR; And Kevin Costner
in a blood-spattered tale of Elvis impersonators robbing a Vegas
casino, 3000 MILES TO GRACELAND. Green’s four nominations
for FREDDY (Worst Actor, Worst Screenplay, Worst
Director and Worst Screen Couple with “Any Animal
He Abuses”) tie the all-time record. But All-Time RAZZIE
Cham-Peen Stallone ALSO has four nominations this year (Worst
Screenplay, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Screen
Couple with Burt Reynolds and Worst Picture as
one of the producers of DRIVEN) and now has a Career Total of 29
Nominations and 9 “Wins” in 22 years.
Others vying for Hollywood’s Most Heinous Hunk o’ Gold
include: Ben Affleck (PEARL HARBOR) three-time past “Winner”
Costner (GRACELAND) Keanu Reeves (HARDBALL and
SWEET NOVEMBER) and last year’s Big “Winner” John
Travolta (DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE and SWORDFISH)
alongside Green for Worst Actor. Penelope Cruz
(BLOW, CAPTAIN CORELLI’S MANDOLIN and VANILLA SKY) Angelina
Jolie (LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER and ORIGINAL SIN) Jennifer
Lopez (ANGEL EYES and THE WEDDING PLANNER) and Charlize
Theron (SWEET NOVEMBER) are contending with Mariah the Pariah
for Worst Actress. A complete list of nominees in all nine
RAZZIE Categories is included with this release.
“Winners”
are determined by sending ballots to more than 520 Golden
Raspberry Award Foundation members throughout 38 U.S. states and
10 foreign countries. The Foundation currently has a development
deal with Nash Entertainment, which is now pitching next year’s
23rd Annual RAZZIES for possible broadcast. For more info
on The RAZZIE Awards and/or its history (or to sign up for press
credentials to attend the March 23rd event) please visit: "www.razzies.com"

press release.
