I just saw it.

As we all know,the Romantic Comedy genre started to die in the last decade,finally dying in 2010 since 90% of that year's rom-coms were bad.This year it seems to have been recovering.While this is cliched,unfunny and forgettable,it learned from the good ones by not relying* on physical comedy and/or gross out gags.

I also appriciated that they tried to make this a mature movie.Unfortunately,that's overshadowed by unlikeable and unrealistic characters**.But the acting was decent,and the leads had good chemistry.

I give this 3/10.

I don't think this should be nominated for anything.It was harmless and passable.

*It still had some,but virtually nothing.
**Granted.Some are more unlikeable and some are more unrealistic than others.But what's the point on ranking?

Here in New York, it's after midnight, which means that it's morning here. Time to reveiw this. Also, I have a schedule update for I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell.
 
The good:
 
Jon Krasinski: Krasinski is the proverbial gold in a sh*t-pile. He's the only character that I didn't want to punch out and the only one to realize that the other characters are unlikeables douches.
 
The bad:
 
Ginnifer Goodwin: Goodwin is a massive disappointment in this. She's just as bad as everyone else except for Hudson. Wait 'till I get to her!
 
Ashley Williams: She plays Claire, a girl who's very annoying. The actress, who shares a name with the middle segment of the human centipede, is very untalented.
 
Luke Greenfield: I could attack this butt-munch in detail, but I'll just list this fact: the highlight of his directorial career* was The Girl Next Door with Elisha Cuthbert!!
 
The ugly:
 
Kate Hudson: A lot of people are mad that Hudson blew the good-will from Almost Famous on terrible rom-coms. I HATED Almost Famous! In fact, I think that I'd rather re-watch this than that!!! To get back on topic, Hudson is just absolutely terrible. Her character is unlikable and a terrible person and friend. Why is she friends with Goodwin?
 
The script: This feels less like a script and more like an attempt to fit as many cliches as possible!
 
The characters: This is the true death-knell of the movie. All the characters who aren't John Krasinski are horrible people who cheat and lie on each other. This, combined with the terrible acting, directing, and writing, make this one of the most unpleasent movies of the year. Grade: F
 
As mentioned in the intro, I'm changing the schedule for the I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell review. There's two reasons for this. The first one is that I found out that super-hack Richard Kelly produced it. The second was that I was brain-storming some future special reviews and most of them involved Richard Kelly. So, I've decided to make next week Richard Kelly Week!!!!! Here's the schedule:

This is like with Stephen King's novels(and movies too):A lot of them feature religious fanatics(maybe he had a bad childhood experience),but they happen to be christian so a lot of people assume he's making fun of christians when he's actually making fun of religious fanatism in general.

I saw episode 504, "The Super Best Friends" last night, and it reminded me of the other type of religion I also thought was wrong: "Extreme Religions." They're characterized by their cult-like mannerisms, frequent charges of rich sums of money, and promises of everlasting happiness in the afterlife by horrible means. I have no problem with religion, so long as religious people go by George Carlin's unwritten commandment: Keep thy religion to thy self! You want to live by and practice the rules of your dogma in private, fine, but don't moan and complain about society not following in your example to the letter or the government keeping the separation of church and state. I know that not all Christians are like that. Where I live, over 4 out of 5 teens follow at least 1 Christian sect or denomination. Most of the houses of worship, however, are tolerant of LGBT's.
 
That's why I say that the only type of religion I know is wrong is fundamentalism. It's the fundamentalist branches of the monotheistic religions that cause all the problems I can think of.

To oiram: I last heard of Lance Bass over a year ago when he revealed he was either gay or bisexual. And I barely remember the BoyBand he was in. Heck, I can't even match the members with the bands!

I think "conservative Christians" walk out of most movies these days -- if they even bother going to begin with. Hollywood is too liberal for their tastes anyway...

4) Hudson started dating the guy because she secretly had a crush on Goodwin and she thought that if they came together, she would never have a chance with her. In the end Goodwin finds this out and discovers that the feeling is mutual. Hudson and Goodwin elope leaving the guy at the altar.

I just don't see this movie working. It may have some funny jokes, but I'm sure no matter how it ends, it will dissapoint:

1)If the guy chooses Goodwin, we'll feel bad for Hudson. And if she's OK with it, it will be unbelievable...even if they come up with a twist that makes Hudson and the guy not a match...

2)The guy stays with Hudson, making it all seem like a waste of everyone's time. 

3)The guy gets away from both...to find himself (or something) -- Same as above.

On another issue, whenever Cage does a bad movie, he seems aware it's bad. Also,he has been in a lot of good movies, too. But Hudson...

As for ALMOST FAMOUS,I gave it **** but I don't think it deserved the Oscar, or being in any "Best of the decade" lists. It wasn't that funny, and the "clever" parts weren't that original. And most people agree that Alba "won" for the other movies.

I wouldn't say that "Kate Hudson must be the female equivalent of Nicolas Cage." The movies that Hudson stars in are like Oscar contenders compared to the sh*t that Cage has been starring in for the past few years (and especially this year!). I think the Kardashian Sisters are the female equivalents of Cage -- they will star and appear in anything so their fame will last another 15 minutes! I'll agree that, for the most part, "Almost Famous" is overrated. It's not that I find the characters unlikable, I just couldn't get into the story. Oh haha, it's a little teenage boy traveling with a '60s (or was it '70s?) band while writing for Rolling Stone, haha. I don't know, I guess I would have had to lived through that time period to get it. But it's still Hudson's best performance ... although that's not saying much. 
 
As for Kate Hudson vs. Jessica Alba, wow, I don't know about that one. The two of them being in that movie together is the main reason why I refuse to see it.

With that in mind, I'm glad they didn't title this Earthbound, because then I would have the taste of the movie in my mouth when I play the game.

Yep, that "something borrowed" would be the plot to every rom-com movie with a love triangle (or in this case, a love rectangle) ever made! Kate Hudson's career continues to to worsen.
