I'm looking forward to this movie. As a sentimental guy, I LOVE movies like this. In fact, Titanic is my favorite movie. Strangely, I didn't like The Notebook as much when I saw it but I'm looking forward to this movie. It looks fantastic!
"Titanic" is you #1 favorite movie of all time? Seriously? Well, whatever floats your boat. Me, I've waited 12 long years for a movie come along and dethrone that overly glorfied chick flick from its spot as the top grossing movie of all time. Critics can moan all they want about the high priced 3-D and IMAX surcharges, but they have to get used to eating sour grapes because there will be a new king of the world within two or three weeks, and that world is called Pandora.

Valentine's Day
But it stars some Oscar nominees too. So what?
Um, the fact it's a rehashing of "He's Just Not That Into You" ... only a year after it was released! It even has Bradley Cooper, who was also in "HJNTIY".

Death at a Funeral
That was Labute's first misstep. You know he made other movies than The Wicker Man, right?
Yeah, he had a few good movies before "Wicker Man", but this remake doesn't need to exist. The original British movie was fine as it is. I mean, if this is going to follow the format of every other African-American movie that's been made in the past decade, you know for a fact they are going to be using the same jokes over and over. Example: I bet money that at one point, someone is going to mention Beyonce's booty. Why? Because there's some rule in African-American movies that at some point, some one must talk about the booty of that overhyped, overrated bitch!

Machete
Just because a movie stars actors you don't like doesn't make it a bad movie. This seems to be the correlation between the Razzie winners. Just because Paris Hilton is in so and so movie doesn't mean the movie itself is bad. I'm still not over the fact that she won a Razzie for her performance in House of Wax. When Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper were reviewing the movie, they talked about how decent her performance is and how they'd expect many people to poke fun of her just because she's Paris Hilton.
It is the weirdest cast ever put together. R-Rod knows how to make good, popcorn action movies, and this will no doubt be one of them. We'll see what happens. Remember, the Razzies hate the Sly Guy, but they spared him for "Rocky 6", because it didn't turn out as bad as we thought it would be.

A Nightmare on Elm Street
Everyone starts somewhere. The director of 500 Days of Summer did some music videos.
Yeah, but you don't understand, Bay chooses music video directors because they will shoot in the same style that he only understands, which is every shot lasting only 4 seconds before cutting to another one. I would have more respect for Bay if he did something original and didn't film it like a 2 hour long beer commerical. Even the great Hitchcock, a man known for making almost nothing but thrillers and murder mysteries, broke type and directed the comedy "Mr. & Mrs. Smith".

Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?
I'm a huge defender for this guy. He started down right poor. He was raped by his father and he made it all the way up by himself. Now he has his own company which gives him creative control for basically all of his movies while Lionsgate distributes them and he's making money on every film he makes. This is a fairy tale come true and I can't help but feel some resentment from people. And I've actually seen some of his films and they are good and nowhere near as bad as their IMDb ratings suggest. His last film, I Can Do Bad All By Myself was his first fresh rating on RT and it has an 80% from the top critics. People are saying it's his best film yet. I applaud this man and what he's doing for the minorities.
Okay, but can't he make a movie with a different theme besides an African-American family getting through hard times through the power of prayer? The man's resume looks like a broken record. When you sum up the plots of all his movies, they are all the same.

Knight & Day
WHY? - Another action/romance/comedy hybrid. With Tom Fooze!

If there was ever a movie in which you should turn your brain off and enjoy the madness on the screen, it's this one. Just sit back and watch Tom Cruise re-enact his famous Orpah interview, except with guns this time.

The Last Airbender
Why should he hang is head in shame? He doesn't make movies for you and because of that, you act as if he should shoot himself in the foot.
If you were an anime fan, you would understand. After crap like "Speed Racer" and "Dragonball Z", we're tired of H-Wood slapping us in the face with their poorly-done live action adaptations. And considering his last three movies, we have very faith in Mr. M. Night doing any better.

Predators
This may end up good. I never really liked the first two films.
Well, that's half your problem, because the first two are action/sci-fi classics, whether you liked them or not, and this one will not live up to them.

Pirahna 3-D
This may end up like either MBV3D or The Final Destination 3D. Considering it's from Aja, let's hope the former.
Just because something is in 3-D, it doesn't make it good. "Avatar" is a rare example. Everything else is usually "Oh look, the actor is pointing his finger in my direction, how cool!".

Step-Up 3D
I'm looking forward to this. The second one was actually better than the first and the dancing sequences were mind-blowing. Some of the best ever caught on film. But this one is in 3D!
See my comment above.

Saw VII 3D
You act as if Saw was the worst film created.
The first one was fine. Every sequel after it were among the worst movies ever made.

Let Me In
It's directed by the guy who did Cloverfield so I hope it ends up good. Wouldn't it be funny if one buys a ticket and says, "I want one ticket to let me in, please."
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they use that 'I want one ticket to let me in, please" as part of their ad compaign.

[quote]Tron Legacy
You are nuts. Tron 2 will probably be one of the most successful movies of this year and one of the most anticipated movies of this year. The technology looks amazing.
See, that's the thing. Clearly, this movie is not for OUR genteration, the one that was alive 30 years ago when the original came out. This movie is for you, the teenagers who couldn't care less of the first one and are going just to look at all the pretty CGI. That is what the studios are hoping for and that's the real reason why it will be a success.

I beg to differ because when the first film came out, it was a technological feat. When the clip for Tron 2 was shown in Comic-Con or whatever it was, many people were praising the technology used and I assure you that those people were not teens.

Okay, I will have respect for the film if it draws fans from both generations. If it's just a CGI porno, then that's not an improvement. However, the catering to the teen generation is why all other remakes are being made, as good as the originals were and should be left untouched.

The only way "Edge of Darkness" will become the "first big hit of 2010" is if it makes anywhere between $20 and $30 million on its opening weekend, which I highly doubt it will.

Meanwhile, I have done the math and if "Avatar" manages to add another $9 or $10 millon on Monday, take in $5 million on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then make $10 million on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it should surpass "Titantic" by this time next week with a total close to $607 million.

I think Edge of Darkness will make money because it's like Taken and a lot of people loved Taken, including myself. It'll probably make around $20 million.

Maybe, but even if it makes that much, "Avatar" will make anywhere between $25 to $35 million, enough to keep it at #1 once again.

Is this a sign that January, with regard to movies, has no redeeming qualities?

Anyways, When in Rome looks like it's going to fail worse than Edge of Darkness. When in Rome has a 999 per mille chance of being our contender for Jnr. 25-29. Edge of Darkness has a 555 per mille chance.

For the record, percent is out of 100, per mille is out of 1000. The per mille symbol looks like the fraction 0 / 00, rather than 0 / 0.

Yep! January & February are the two months when NOTHING but bad movies are released, because between all the snowy weather and people being broke from the winter holiday season, very few people are willing to go to the theaters and play money to see a movie. Unless, of course, that movie is a life experience that you have to witness at least once before you die, ie. "Avatar".

I think I've found a Bonus Worst of the Weak: Saint John of Las Vegas.  I know this is not scheduled for wide release, but it is scheduled to be reviewed on a future episode of the Rotten Tomatoes Show.

Roger Ebert gave Edge of Darkness 2.5 stars.  Michael Phillips gave Edge of Darkness 3 stars and When in Rome 1.5 stars.

Since when is Michael Phillips an expert movie critic? Why is everyone quoting him as if his opinion matters? Unless of course, this is another Michael Phillips and not the Olympic swimmer I thinking of.

That Olympic swimmer is Michael Phelps.  Michael Phillips is a film critic for the Chicago Tribune and one of the hosts of At the Movies (LINK).

Okay then. I was worried that our society has been reduced to the point that a famous swimmer's opinion of a movie is taken seriously when considering seeing it or not.

Look at When in Rome.  It's got 6% on the Tomatometer and THAT is a new low for 2010.  The Spy Next Door is second-lowest with 8%.
