Got some bad news about Kick-Ass 2. The guy who directed Never Back Down (remember that one?) is directing it. And, since he's not a "big" name like Matthew Vaughn, Mark Millar will probabbly have complete control. The first Kick-Ass was a loose adaptation of the comic and with good reason: the comic is one of the most vile things I've ever read! For example, in the comic when Dave tells Katie he's Kick-Ass, she gets her boyfriend to beat the crap out of him and then sends him a picture of her blowing her new BF!

There was this interview with Millar and AICN and he confirmed that several scenes from the sequel comic that definitely don't need the exist (i.e. the decapitated dog, the supervillain gang-rape, etc.) are going to be in the movie. Dammit! Link: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/55914

We need to keep in mind that the last time Miller was given full helm of a film project the result was *cough* 2008's The Spirit. And we all know how that turned out...

You see in this filmmaking world there's two types of people my friend. Those with the knowledge of film and those who think they do but really don't.

By "most interest," do you mean we get to choose the movies? If so, then add a few more movies to the list -- like WATERWORLD*, and do a whole month of reviews!
LOL

*I saw it yesterday, and I wish it had tied with Showgirls for Worst Picture!

In other news, I have another week of reviews theme for the future. It's going to be called Justified Bombs Week and I'll review movies that completely failed at box office and deserved it. Here's the candidates: Shanghai Surprise, Leonard Part Six, Nothing But Trouble, Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, Toys, Super Mario Brothers, The Scarlet Letter (w/ Demi Moore), Fair Game (w/Cindy Crawford), The Postman, Battlefield Earth, Driven, 3000 Miles To Graceland, Glitter, Rollerball '02, Pluto Nash, Feardotcom, Gigli, Catwoman, Alexander, Stealth, A Sound Of Thunder, BloodRayne, Basic Instinct 2, Land Of The Lost, Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li, and Jonah Hex. The seven that generate the most interest will get reviews. Fun fact: five of those movies listed above are Rotten Assholes.

Frank Miller did The Spirit. Mark Millar is the asshole who wrote Wanted*, the atrocity known as Civil War, and thinks that government should have info on everyone. The only good things he's done are Superman: Red Son and Spider-Man: Marvel Knights.

*The graphic novel. He didn't have anything to do with the movie version and that was actually good.

Yeah, I want you guys to pick them. I was using Wikipedia's list of all-time box-office bombs, and since Waterworld made a decent amount of money worldwide, it wasn't listed there...

Great Gatsby. What do you think? Good? Bad?

Oh, and here's a trailer for Madea's Witness Protection. Yeah, this BS POS easily looks like the Worst Madea movie so far -- and that's saying a lot! Oh, and it's being released the same week as GI Joe 2. I hope HeadRazz will do Forums for both.

Elizabeth Hartman and Judith Barsi are much more talented and beautiful than Scarlett Johansson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Fact.

I was just about to post this. Not going to lie, it's on my most anticipated list. To be honest though, I don't know what to make out of that music playing above that trailer. I'm not a fan of Mulligan, I wanted Michelle Williams for the role. DiCaprio hopefully will deliver. After all, this is supposed to be DiCaprio's next try for an Oscar. But it's an annoying thought to have him in two movies back to back with no time inbetween, if Gatsby and Django both are released by the the end of the year. Also, wondering about the 3D.
Still excited though.

Yeah, watch The Postman, but with a decent amount of Stay Awake pills close by.   LOL

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: I will readily admit, THE POSTMAN is still the only Worst Picture "winner" I have never been able to watch in a single sitting...

In other news, we're two third through Cannes, and most of the intersting or anticipated movies have been shown with a few exeptions.
The following link has a compilation of reviews for whoever is interested, but I need you guys to pay attention to "Confession of a child of the century", which is Pete Doherty trying to set foot into the acting world.

BTW: I've already seen all of the movies I listed as choices. That way, I won't have to worry about skimping on a promised review brcause I couldn't find the film.

G.I. JOE 2 will be converted to 3D, and therefor, it won't be released until next year. Also, this will cause TED to be released a month earlier. So not only is 3D ruining movies, it made people waste their votes in our Summer movie poll!

Because of the money loss of JOHN CARTER, Disney has put the pre-production of ORDER OF THE SEVEN on hold. I don't know if this is good or bad, since the last thing we need is another SNOW WHITE movie, even this one has martial arts.

Why don't you choose the newer movies? That way, you'll make sure they have forums.

Speaking of box office flops:

I don't want to limit myself to just newer movies. That's why I created a forum for reviews of movies that don't have forums.

Gotta start with The Vow now.

Intouchables, France's highest grossing film in their country, is hated by some critics in the US. One can only guess it has to do with their overreaction to the film's harmless racial overtones? It's actually a delightful film, and I recommend you guys see it.

That sounds like a pretty bad move from a business perspective to me -- not just the conversion to 3D, but also the fact that they have to push it back into next year in order for it to be possible.

If I were them, I would not have begun marketing the movie before finalizing this decision.

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: As someone who's worked in movie marketing for decades, I have to agree -- this move suggests, more than anything, a lack of faith in the film's ability to pull in an audience without a gimmick...not an indication that they think they have a winner on their hands. Also, without G.I. JOE #2 on their release roster, Paramount now has NO potential blockbuster for the rest of the summer. I'd be curious to hear them defend this decision to their stock-holders, as it sounds like it has a far greater likelihood of ending up being a fiasco than of being a smart move...

Well, at least it wasn't moved to January or Febuary. I think that they, also, moved it so it wouldn't have to compete with The Dark Knight Rises.

Interestingly, Ted immediately claimed its old spot. Smart move. Both movies are targeting teenage boys and DKR is definitely going to make more money. By moving Ted first, they can get more money.

New releases here: A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN, JUAN & EVA (from Argentina) and (of course) MEN IN BLACK 3. What should I do?
