* The music was widely considered to be the low point of the movie, but several of the songs used in the movie were referenced directly in the comic, apparently. 99 Luftballons was more relevant than people realize, because it's a song about nuclear war, which people don't always know.

See, if I read the comic book, I'd maybe understand. But just because I didn't doesn't mean I have to be confused to hell. I'll read your post again, maybe I'll understand.

See, I think that is why Watchmen didn't do that well at the box office, people just didn't know about the comic book, and thought whatever they saw on the screen was something some messed up screenwriter had thrown together while he was high. Warner Bros. should have really pushed the motion comic DVD as a must see in order to better understand the movie. |

I hadn't read the comic beforehand, and I understood Watchmen just fine... The comic was not a necessity to get the movie, one just needed to have some outside the box thinking patterns. Sure there might be some things that might strike me upon reading the comic, but that does not change the fact that the movie worked just fine without it.

I feel that you pick up on a LOT more on a much deeper level if you really look into it, but like I told MWG, you really shouldn't HAVE to research a movie to fully understand everything in it. I personally understood the basics when I first saw it (before looking into this stuff), but it is a deep story. And it was made for the fans of the comic, rather than the average movie going public.

Having to look into a movie enhances the experience for me. If I get everything right off the bat, then there is no reason to watch it again. Leaving a bit of a reason to watch it again, just makes it so much more interesting. But then again, I'm a little bit of an odd ball.

Well yea, it's going to help make things more interesting. But my point is, how many people are going to that? Most people go to movies with the intent of becomming a dumber person for it.

Remake fever is a serious medical condition. It should not be joked about -- Look at what it's done to Steve Martin!

Yes, Remake Fever is like the H-Wood version of the swine flu. Only it kills careers...and audience's love of movies. |

There's a big difference. Remake fever is a real disease, and swine flu is a common ailment with a different name that's inspired mass hysteria due to the public's demand to constantly be afraid of something. Remake fever only affects moviemakers and people without any taste.

I wonder if the FDA is close to approving any drugs to combat the Remake Fever Pandemic... It could very easily destroy the entertainment industry if left unchecked. And as far as swine flu goes, I've been saying pretty much the same thing, except I blame the media for turning it into a cause for hysteria. I swear, if they gave this much publicity to every disease that killed a few people, there would be no time for anything else on TV... |

Well, they tried solving it Watchmenatrex, but it didn't seem to take to the general public as well as they'd have liked.

Yes, I heard one person just spat it out, not being about to notice the layers that were under the capsule's surface, and then tried to convince others should do the same. |

There are people who can tolerate these remakes. Don't you guys see them before adding them to your Worst Remake or Ripoff category? That Movie Preview Critic says that remakes are a contribution to what he calls the Moviepocalypse meaning a sudden end to the movie industry. Without movies, we wouldn't have anything to bitch and moan about; the Oscars and the Razzies would have no reason for existing; and Starz, HBO, Cinemax, Encore, Showtime, and TCM would be our only fallbacks. |
