I can't remember if I voted for Kardashian or Electra... probably Kim. But since people keep giving me an opening and a reason to point it out - this was NOT a Paris Hilton pet project, she just happened to be in it. She wasn't GOOD in it, but she wasn't terrible, and from listening to the audio commentary, she even helped with some of the costuming from her own stash when the movie's very limited budget, (Read: they had ZERO for marketing) by donating pieces to the costume designer. I don't think this movie deserved the attention it got in the way that it got it, but it didn't appeal to any critics, it seems, so I can't blame it for being Razzie nominated. But as for Paris herself, I think she was only mentioned at all because of who she was - there are plenty of other actresses out there who would've fit the role just as easily and would've gone completely unnoticed - certainly not Razzed. I'm not ever going to see The Hottie and the Nottie... THAT looked pretty worthy of Razzery, and that had much more of Paris' touch involved.
I really wished Kim Kardashian "won" Worst Supporting Actress, too, since she's so focused on copying Paris' "career" in every detail (make name for yourself by appearing in homemade porn, have brain dead "reality" show about your shallow lifestyle, get paid to show up at parties, appear in the worst movies possible, win a Razzie, etc).
But in the end, when the votes were all counted, people just HATE Paris THAT much more...

I really wished Paris Hilton didn't win for her role in this. I haven't seen it but I can tell it's a love it or hate it film. I know a lot of people that seem to love this movie and I hear that Hilton isn't that bad.
Well, just bought my copy. And again, I've got to insist, this movie wasn't bad, it just wasn't for you. It was something intended to be different than anything else in mainstream Hollywood, and I don't think they ever really planned on making a lot of money on it. It was made for a very specific audience, and from the kind of people I normally talk to/hang out with, everyone liked it. Because it was made for them.
I mean, isn't this what art in general is supposed to be about? It's made for the right people to enjoy, its not some industrialized product churned out by a studio to make a $hit ton of money, it's not taking someone else's already conceived idea by remaking a book, or a comic, or ANOTHER MOVIE, it's new, it's fresh, it's original. Now, to be fair, I guess this was a play first, but it was a play written by one of the main characters in the movie - the drug dealer guy.
Now, are there faults in the movie? Hell yea. Lots. But that doesn't make it bad. I've always felt that the moment you find something that's flawless, you've found something completely worthless.
So I pose this to you; don't talk about how horrible this movie was, just step back a moment and say, "Yea, I didn't like it, that wasn't for me." This isn't a remake of an older movie, it's not a straight to video sequel, or something that really IS awful, it's just not up your alley. It's not up most people's alleys, I'm sure.
I'm just glad I got out of middle school before High School Musical was cool. I gotta go with Eric Cartman on that one - if that's what's passing for cool amongst teenagers these days, that's pretty much it for me. Goin out to the garage and turning the car on.
And a man not liking musicals is something I like to call, SANITY.
Like most Americans, I can believe in ghosts, aliens, and anything H-Wood can throw at me in a sci-fi movie, yet I just can't believe it's normal for people to be going about their daily lives and then suddenly jump into a song and dance routine.
I'll be honest, Paris Hilton or not, I don't care for slasher movies or musicals, so the thought of those two genres combined is like the biggest movie turnoff ever to me. If that's your thing, hey, go right away and watch it and praise it all you like.
The haterade Repo is drowning in on this board is mostly due to the fact that Paris Hilton was in it. I think some of the critics even refer to her role as a major one, when in fact she's barely in the movie. Most of her songs were cut, and her screen time limitied, which I'm sure of you will be delighted to hear. The unfortunate thing is that even if she did the most amazing job, which I beleive she did, people still rag on about how its Paris Hilton. Sure she's been in her fair share of shenanigans, and starred in a series of flops, but she's grown up since the Simple Life, and Repo was a big risk of a role to take because its so different. I think she decided to take it in an attempt to break down any type-casting being associated to her, but unfortuantely, people still judge the content of this amazing movie by the fact that Paris was in it.
I'm pretty sure AmberSweet and Zydrate Addict are the same person. He/She/They can rant on about how great this movie is all they want, that still doesn't change the fact every professional critic hated it (one critic said the best part was the end credits, because he could finally leave) and it made next to nothing at the box office. Expect Paris Hilton to pull a Kate Winslet and be under both Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress this year.
RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: As an Forum administrator, I have access to IP Numbers for every posting, and AmberSweet and Zydrate Addict (which I believe are both references to characters/elements in REPO) have TOTALLY DIFFERENT IP info. So unless it's one person with a sophisticated multiple e-mail set-up, no they're likely not one and the same. They may, in fact. be two of the 157 paying customers who saw REPO when it played in theatres...
And you'll find out if your instincts regarding Paris possibly getting a double whammy are sound when we announce our nominations next Wednesday, January 21...

Ok, I'll be the first one to tell you that I dislike Paris Hilton, but when you see the movie you can't even tell it's her till the end. And the highlight? Her face falls off!! I mean that litteraly! So seriously, don't knock it until you've seen it. Like AmberSweet said, it's not a movie, it's an event. I know it's by the same guy who did Saw, but it's not the same at all!!
I saw repo twice and maybe a third time in January on the road tour. I love repo! The Genetic Opera and dEd Grimley IS right. It's for a specific audience. It's not mainstream or big budget but it brings out the fan base. Since the film never got ANY marketing, the film making slightly over $50,000 in 8 theaters is amazing.
